ACRS seeks a full-time Medical Billing Assistant who maximizes client service revenue and supports the management of the agency’s revenue cycle. Works with other departments to strengthen protocols throughout revenue cycle to meet regulatory and compliance expectations. Supports continuous quality improvement to ensure efficient and effective processes.
***Schedule: Mon – Fri, no weekend work!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs daily billing functions in integrated systems. Reviews and scrubs charge entries for accuracy. Ensures billing and documentation protocols meet regulatory requirements and meet agency compliance expectations. Works collaboratively with staff to produce accurate encounters to reduce denials. Assists other billing team members to ensure patient insurance coverage is accurate on a timely basis.
  • Maintains records and documentation required for credentialing. Ensures that all credentialing files are current and complete pursuant to expiration date of medical licenses, board certification, professional-liability insurance coverage, DEA and other pertinent information.
  • Manages and meets multiple priorities and competing deadlines, problem solving and organization skills with attention to details.
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes in the healthcare industry and incorporates knowledge in the performance of job duties.
  • Monitors payor and system related policies, contracts, and regulations. Keeps management informed of changes that may impact agency billing and reimbursement practices, such as credentialing issues, billing requirements, CPT and ICD coding, and rejection or denial codes.
  • Participates in the testing of improved revenue cycle management workflows in EPIC. Attends regular meetings with the EPIC revenue cycle analyst and billing team.
  • Attends all agency, program and team meetings, in-service trainings, and supervision.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned by management.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree in health administration or related field OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) year medical billing training and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD10 coding and understanding of principles and practices of medical billing.
  • Proficient in EHR Systems and the revenue cycle workflow.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to compile, interpret, and utilize information; and to communicate effectively with people of all backgrounds and educational levels.
  • Ability to be self-starter, motivated, independent worker with high attention to detail and ability to follow-through.
  • Effective ability to navigate a personal computer. Competency in use of Microsoft Office and other relevant software for word processing, calendaring, e-mail, and data entry. Efficiently research and perform various tasks via the internet.
  • Ability to provide effective and respectful service to employees, visitors and clients of diverse cultural beliefs and practices.
  • Must have reliable transportation. If using a personal or an agency vehicle to fulfill job duties, must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under ACRS’s auto policy. If using a personal vehicle, must have current auto insurance including coverage for work-related business.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Regularly required to walk; use hands and arms to reach and operate objects, tools, or controls. Must occasionally lift up to/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Some work will be performed offsite (e.g. home visits or external meetings). The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
