The UWSchool of Law's Dean's Officehas an outstanding opportunity open for aTemporaryData Analyst.
The Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in the Dean's Office by developing, managing, and analyzing data from multiple sources to support various departments and activities overseen by the Dean's Office. This role will involve collecting, managing, analyzing, and reporting data to facilitate decision-making processes within academic administration, student services, academic success, enrollment management, financial aid, and career services.
The Data Analyst will work collaboratively with other staff members and may be assigned additional duties as necessary. This is a professional staff temporary position expected to last 6 - 12 months dependent on department needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Collection and Management (50%):
• Collaborate with academic administration, student services, academic success, enrollment management, financial aid, and career services teams.
• Provide data-driven support, analysis, and insights to assist in departmental decision-making.
• Gather data from multiple sources and ensure its accuracy and completeness.
• Develop and maintain databases and data storage systems.
• Implement data quality control measures and protocols.
• Regularly update and cleanse datasets as needed.
Data Analysis (30%):
• Utilize statistical methods and data analysis tools to extract insights from collected data.
• Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies within the data.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
• Prepare clear and actionable reports and visualizations for decision-making.
Reporting (15%):
• Generate routine and ad-hoc reports based on data analysis findings.
• Prepare reports and presentations for the Dean's Office and department heads.
• Ensure data-driven insights are communicated effectively.
Other Duties (5%):
• Be flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or Dean's Office leadership.
• Adapt to evolving priorities and contribute to the overall success of the Dean's Office.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field
• 2-3 years of experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting data
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Python, R, Excel, Tableau, Power BI).
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
• Knowledge of higher education systems and practices is a plus.
