UW Medicine Primary Care – Mountlake Terracehas an outstanding opportunity for aClinical Lab Technician)
WORK SCHEDULE

  • 40 hours per week (potential for 4x10's)
  • May require a regularly scheduled weekend (Saturday/Sunday) shift
  • Day Shift

    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Works in a clinical laboratory with a limited test menu and high service demands, performing waived and limited non-waived testing, excluding microscopic evaluations, and adult and pediatric phlebotom.
  • Performs venous and capillary invasive procedures for blood withdrawal.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs pre-analytic procedures of specimen collection and processing, including interpreting provider test orders and monitoring for accuracy, prioritizing specimen handling based on type and clinical urgency, investigating, and documenting erroneous orders or other pre-analytic specimen problems, preparing specimens for transport, and data entry into the electronic medical record.
  • Performs adult and pediatric phlebotomy by capillary and venous collection and provides a positive experience to patients for collection of non-blood specimens.
  • Performs routine and stat laboratory tests utilizing automated or semi-automated equipment and kit assays with a keep ability to understand, operate, and troubleshoot, work with manufacturer's customer service personnel, and consult with the CLT Lead as appropriate.
  • Evaluates test results and understands critical value limits for all tests assigned and reports immediately to appropriate medical staff.
  • Performs routine radiographic exams as directed by a clinic provider, limited to Level 1 and Level 2 exams as listed in the UWNC x-ray test menu.REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School/GED AND one year of relevant experience or training in a clinical laboratory or medical setting
  • Active Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-P) with the Washington State Department of Health; or eligible to become certified as a Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist with the Washington State Department within 90-days of hire.
