The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Deputy Athletics Director, Chief Financial Officer. As UVA Athletics continues to leverage its existing strengths while building strong forward momentum, the department needs an astute fiscal leader to effectively steward its resources, collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, and foster a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture. The University, located in Charlottesville, Virginia, is a selective public institution known for its teaching, research, and public service. UVA sponsors a 27-sport intercollegiate athletics program, which includes approximately 750 student-athletes.
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Deputy Athletics Director, CFO is expected to bring exceptional leadership and strategic fiscal oversight. Working in close partnership with leadership and other key internal and external stakeholders, the Deputy Athletics Director, CFO is responsible for day-to-day oversight of financial management, compliance and reporting, procurement and contracts, John Paul Jones Arena operations, facilities management, human resources, equipment room operations, information technology, construction and design, and various other operational tasks essential to the Athletics Department. This position serves as sport administrator for several sports.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Deputy Athletics Director, CFO will have oversight of the following areas:
Business Operations
Maintain financial discipline and control throughout the Athletics Department.
Manage procurement and contracting.
Ensure compliance and institutional control with university, state, federal, NCAA and ACC regulations and FOIA.
Capital Planning, Facilities & Event Operations
Develop and implement capital plans for facility maintenance, renovations, and replacement.
