University of the Potomac is Hiring an Admissions Officer Near Washington, DC

Under the executive direction of the VP of Enrollment Services, the Admissions Officer carries out responsibilities associated with student admissions, following all University and Department rules and regulations. The Admissions Officer represents the university to prospective students and their families in a positive, professional manner.

The Admissions Officer:

  • Processes applications, maintaining records on admission decisions, and coordinating communication with transfer institutions.
  • Establishes relationships with high school counselors, organizations, and other external partners to create awareness of University's programs.
  • Assesses transcripts, test scores, and credentials to determine eligibility in accordance to university practice.
  • Supervises the activities of administrative staff involved in admissions process.
  • Prepares and analyses reports to keep track of progress.
  • Prepares presentations for community partners, students, and families.
  • Participates in special projects related to student recruitment, enrollment management, and other duties assigned.
  • Develops strategies for outreach activities with the aim of producing higher yields from yield campaigns.
  • Assists with orientations, open houses, and other events.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments across the University to ensure successful recruiting efforts.
  • Prepares and distributes admissions-related materials and communications in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates incoming applications for admission to the University adhering to established standards of academic excellence.
  • Counsels prospective students and their families regarding admission requirements, financial aid options, enrollment processes, and other related issues.
  • Utilizes management information systems to track and update data on prospective students.
  • Assists with recruiting events, including college fairs and transfer days.
  • Maintains accurate database of student information.
  • Reviews and interprets documents to determine admissions qualifications.
  • Remains knowledgeable of current trends in enrollment management, recruitment, financial aid, and related areas.
  • Develops strategies for long-term recruitment plans.
  • Monitors changes in federal, state, and institutional policies, regulations, and guidelines affecting admissions.
  • Tests various marketing techniques to maximize recruitment efforts.
  • Reviews transfer equivalencies for courses taken at other institutions, as necessary.
  • Coordinates and supervises the activities of student tour guides and interviewers.
  • Maintains current knowledge of changes in admissions and enrollment policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Participates in special projects related to the recruitment process.
  • Develops reports regarding incoming applications for use with internal departments.
  • Utilizes technology to track, analyze and report on data related to recruitment efforts.
  • Communicates with other departments of the institution to ensure efficient and effective admissions processes.
  • Serves as an advocate for prospective students throughout the application process.
