University of the Pacific is Hiring a Project Manager Near Stockton, CA

Primary Purpose:
The Pacific Technology Project Manager is responsible for managing the execution of technology-focused projects of moderate complexity from conception through delivery, including successful project definition, planning, budgeting, time estimating and scheduling, project staff planning and resource leveling, organizing, and leading high performance project teams, and delivery of projects within assigned organization. The Project Manager manages all factors that govern project success to ensure high-quality delivery within time, cost, and quality parameters. Works in collaboration with senior leadership to help influence Pacific Technology IT Managers, stakeholders and resource managers to follow standard project management practices and achieve project goals. This individual serves as primary contact to senior department managers for moderate change initiatives. With executive leadership guidance, they develop a sound implementation plan meeting the project strategy, within the budget and timing constraints. Proactively manages project delivery and approvals with supervision and direction from executive leadership, in resolving action items, issues, and risks. Monitors progress against plan and proactively communicates variances to leadership with recommendations to minimize the variances. Serves as the primary point of contact for assigned projects and is responsible for developing status reports and leading status meetings. Schedules and leads project checkpoints and deliverable review meetings for their projects. This position performs an operations planning and implementation role in the design and preparedness of the University's delivery of project management services for medium-sized information technology project efforts. The Project Manager collaborates with the leadership for financial and resource decision-making on projects.
Essential Functions:
Under general guidance and direction, the Project Manager performs the following for medium-sized information technology project efforts:
Develops and maintains project management standards and procedures that are aligned with the Universitys policies and strategies through the use of the Pacific Technology project management tool and defined business practices.
Performs day-to-day management of projects.
Initiates, designs, plans, monitors, controls, implements and closes processes associated with assigned projects.
Stays current in project management practices applying as appropriate to the day-to-day management of University projects.
In collaboration with senior management and stakeholders, defines project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals.
Estimates the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
Drafts and submits small scale budget proposals, and recommends subsequent budget changes where necessary.
Proactively manages changes in project scope, identifies potential crises, and devises contingency plans to be reviewed and approved by the PMO Director.
Provides timely and effective communication to team members and stakeholders regarding project expectations and progress.
Defines project success criteria and disseminates to involved parties throughout the project life cycle.
Delegates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate project team personnel.
With direction from the Executive Leadership Team, coaches, mentors, motivates, and supervises project team members and contractors, and influences them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
Identifies and resolves issues and conflicts within the project team.
Plans and schedules project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
Determines the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyzes results, and troubleshoots problem areas.
Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
Conducts project close out sessions to include lessons learned and recommendations for successful and unsuccessful project elements.
Utilizes best practices and tools for project execution and management.
Builds, develops, and grows any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Five (5) years of progressively challenging project management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors in one of the following or related fields: Computer Information Systems, Computer Programming, Computer Science, and Computing & Management.
Experience in medium-scale IT Project management and some multi-disciplinary Project Management.
Ability to use MS Project Professional or other project management tools to manage project scheduling and tracking.
Experience in aspects of IT project management from hardware infrastructure through application development.
Understanding of, and experience with, PMI methodology used to deliver assigned projects.
Demonstrated ability to lead projects where resources are often shared across projects.
Strong planning, organizing, and coordinating skills.
Demonstrated project leadership skills.
Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to work on various teams and contribute to the success of the teams.
Experience with PowerPoint, MS Project, and other project management tools.
Ability to read and interpret architectural or construction diagrams.
Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to work with communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
Ability to conduct research into project-related issues and products.
Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Duties require extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand and wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional walking, standing and simple grasping. Infrequent climbing stairs, walking across campus, stooping and reaching. Constant communication using both spoken and written means. May be required to lift up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Primarily office setting, AV closets and /or data center with exposure to noise and cooler temperatures. Work performed during standard business hours. Occasional overtime and hours worked outside of normal schedule may be required to meet business deadlines. Travel may be required to other campuses, meetings or training.
