Position Summary
The Communication Specialist is responsible for implementing strategic communication pieces to support established communication plan through use of written and visual media. This is a part-time position. The Communication Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of Digital Strategy and Marketing.

Description of Job Duties
  • Write and edit messaging to prospective students and other stakeholders to include social media posts, print marketing pieces, website content and digital media.
  • Write engaging content that accurately informs prospective students and University stakeholders using the University’s branding guidelines.
  • Stay abreast of updates/trends in research communication design, method of delivery and best practices of communication to prospective students and/or families.

  • Work with vendor partners in publication design and production projects.
  • Coordinate with academic departments to create program specific recruitment and marketing materials.
  • Work with office personnel to create event specific supplemental publications.
  • Coordinate and effectively produce and execute social media posts, digital creative assets, and website content.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Experience with the design, management and production of print and web-based/electronic materials using Adobe Suite products;
  • Ability to communicate and interact comfortably and professionally with various departments and vendors;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment both independently and in a group;
  • Proficiency using social media in accordance with digital marketing best practices;
  • Ability to plan, implement and maintain multiple ongoing social media strategies across several platforms;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
Required Work Experience
One (1) year of experience in marketing/communications to include the planning/ execution of social media posts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in website editing using a CMS;
  • Experience in the admissions process.

Work Hours
20 hours per week within the standard office schedule of Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am to 5pm.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift/carry up to 20lbs of marketing materials.
Ability to push/pull equipment carts with materials weighing up to 30lbs.
Ability to actively engage in assigned events for extended periods of time.
