Brief Description of Duties
Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Student Success provides decisive leadership for the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) at UDC. The position leads the development and execution of academic programs, curriculum design, diverse teaching methodologies, and innovation to drive faculty engagement, academic program accreditation, , and lead the delivery of quality recruitment and retention best practices.
The Associate Dean leads and oversees all student-related matters, including the University's student affairs team, student recruitment, retention, engagement and completion, mental health and wellness, military services, and disability support services. The position is responsible for budget management and supervising CAUSES operations in the absence and at the direction of the Dean. The Associate Dean also works closely with the assistant and other associate deans in CAUSES as a collaborative community of practice to ensure engagement at the highest level is integrated into the college's academic curricula.
The candidate must have an established record of excellence commensurate with appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor in a unit within CAUSES. At a minimum, the selected candidate must be eligible for a faculty appointment, including non-tenure track classifications.
The candidate must be a collaborative team player, work effectively and efficiently with diverse constituencies, perform all duties with a high degree of independence and efficiency, communicate effectively, work well under pressure, and be familiar (or familiarize self) with relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for the position.
