Salary
Salary Range: $35,568 - $38,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours per Week
Exempt Position: 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions
Job Summary:
To coordinate the operation of programs or projects, exercising independent judgment and authority as required. Responsible for assigned phases of program delivery, which may include purchasing, program selection, staff supervision, future planning, and innovation.
Duties:
  • Plans, schedules and coordinates activities and events involved with the First-Year Experience peer mentorship and student belonging programs.
  • Collaborate and work closely with a broad group of campus partners to deliver outstanding peer mentorship programming and student development, leadership and belonging events on campus.
  • Create, plan, implement, and evaluate student development curricula for peer mentorship programs integrated into first year AIS courses and the University Peer Mentorship (UPM) experience.
  • Collaborate with FYE colleagues to coordinate assignments of peer mentors into AIS and UPM course sections according to academic studies. Work closely with team of program coordinators to create, monitor and develop UPM course sections in Blackboard and coordinate first-year student enrollment into UPM course sections by academic studies.
  • Collaborate with program and unit colleagues to coordinate peer mentor recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate pre-semester training and weekly in-service training programs for peer mentor. Collaborate with campus partners to offer common certified pre-semester peer mentor training experience at UTSA.
  • Directly supervise a team of peer mentors. This includes facilitating weekly team meetings, monitoring performance metrics, conducting performance evaluations, providing timely feedback, and guiding professional development activities.
  • Ensure First-Year Experience program needs are met through the effective planning, tracking and management of budgetary and other resources.
  • Maintain data tracking and reporting systems to monitor student engagement and progress. Provide status reports to reflect student progress and program operations; assists in the creation and maintenance of internal controls to protect student confidentiality and program reporting validity.
  • Conduct program assessment and evaluate First-Year Experience activities and events. Makes recommendations for changes and enhancements to ensure that the program evolves as necessary to continue to serve the mission and meet the needs of the diverse UTSA student population.
  • Produces and distributes program promotional materials. Present FYE programs and initiatives to first-year students, university stakeholders and community partners. Manage and maintain department's social media accounts, department emails and or website.
  • Demonstrates UTSA core values: Integrity, Excellence, Inclusiveness, Respect, Collaboration and Innovation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two years of experience working with students and/or other groups to plan, coordinate and evaluate activities and programs
  • At the department's discretion a Master's degree may substitute for one year of required experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and evaluate events

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with student information and scheduling systems (i.e., Banner, ASAP)
  • Experience with learning management system such as Blackboard or Canvas
  • Knowledge and familiarity of the first-year student experience, including theories, practices, and programming associated with student transition, learning, motivation, and retention
Working Conditions

  • Requires use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
  • Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events.
  • After hours and weekend work is required on an occasional basis.
This position will be primarily located:
On Campus: Primary work location will be on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
