Salary
Salary Range: $52,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible, grant-funed, temporary position with an expected end date of 09/30/2023. This position may be shortened, extended, or converted to a regular, full-time position without reposting based on funding or business needs of the department.

Essential Functions
  • Provides case management and community coordination of services related to housing, education, financial, and mental health and well-being for current and prospective college students with a history of foster care who are experiencing or at-risk for homelessness.
  • Provides landlord navigation for program participants to identify safe, affordable, and permanent housing. Stays up to date on affordable housing resources in the community.
  • Participates in the local Coordinated Entry and Case Conferencing process with the Continuum of Care (CoC) to review program referrals.
  • Completes data entry into the local Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) for HUD compliance.
  • Conducts intake and needs assessments and refers students to campus based and/or other community resources as appropriate. Follows up and tracks utilization.
  • Collaborates effectively with BCFES Pilot Partners and Youth Action Council to develop and sustain supportive services for program participants.
  • Provides supervision to graduate level interns and peer advocate(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree from an accredited university in Social Work, Public Administration, Psychology, or similar program required.
  • Experience may be substituted for education on a one for one basis.
  • Two years of professional experience in a full time, paid position working with homeless young adults and/or foster care youth/alumni.
  • Experience conducting intake assessments, service plans, and providing case management.
  • Demonstrated skills in strengths-based practice, trauma-informed care, and crisis response.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to be resourceful, proactive, and organized.
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Criminal Background Check (CBC) through UTSA Police Department and background clearance through Texas Health and Human Services to include fingerprinting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Social Work.
  • Four years professional experience in a full time, paid position working with foster care alumni who have experienced homelessness.
  • Experience working in a state child welfare agency.
  • Experience with landlord navigation and local Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Experience working with college students, faculty, and staff in a culturally diverse metropolitan area.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Law and policies related to HUD, child welfare, and education (i.e. Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, CoC Program Interim Rule Section 578.51C, 2 CFR 200.)
Working Conditions
On Campus: Primary work location will be on the Downtown campus
May require extended weekend and evening hours to meet with students, implement campus programs, and participate in special projects and community activities.
