Salary
Salary Range: $31,200 - $44,226 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
This is a temporary, benefits eligible position. Funding for this position is renewable on a yearly basis.This is a Grant-Funded position, which may be extended or shortened based upon availability of grant funds and/or work.
Hours per Week
Exempt Position: 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions
Function:
To perform specialized research and educational work for the Academy for Teacher Excellence to support undergraduate and dual credit teacher candidates.
Scope:
Responsible for performing technical educational and research work to achieve the goals and objectives of grant funded projects.
Duties
Typical:
  • Performs research for educational programs,
  • Develops curriculum materials, trainings, and other assigned projects,
  • Collects and compiles data/statistics and prepares written reports,
  • Assists in the development, planning and implementation of project activities and programs for undergraduate and dual credit teacher candidates,
  • Researches, demonstrates, interprets and teaches various aspects of educational programs,
  • Serves as school and/or community liaison,
  • Plans and implements professional development events for practicing teachers and teacher candidates,
  • Provides mentoring support to undergraduate students, teacher candidates, and teachers, and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Periodic:
  • Answers inquiries and assists with special problems
  • Supports the review of program objectives and makes appropriate recommendations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the degree of specialty (for example, interdisciplinary studies, curriculum and instruction, bilingual education, educational psychology).
  • Two years of experience in teaching, research, or museum work relating to field of specialty.
  • Additional education may substitute for experience on a one for one basis.
  • Must be capable of handling difficult human situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Must be able to handle emergency and security situations relating to the public and school children.
  • Must be friendly and flexible in dealing with school children and the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with professional personnel, volunteers, supervisors, and the public is vital.
  • Criminal Background Check (CBC).
  • Knowledge of personal computers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in curriculum and instruction, bicultural bilingual studies, educational leadership, educational psychology, or equivalent degree.
  • Experience working with middle school and high school students.
  • Experience working conducting research and managing data.
  • Experience developing and presenting trainings and workshops.
  • State of Texas Teacher certification.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish.
Working Conditions
  • Some weekend and evening work.
  • Will require some work away from the office working at school districts or community centers.
This position will be primarily located on the UTSA Main or Downtown Campus.
Work Modality:
Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
