Salary
Salary Range: $47,000- $52,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours per Week
Exempt Position: 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions
Job Summary
Function:
  • Provides professional level budget reporting and analyses associated with the planning, development and maintenance of the department's operating budget.
Scope:
  • Responsible for the application of advanced clerical skills and budget analysis techniques to a variety of budget related transactions.
Duties
Typical:
  • Provides administrative support, technical support, and assists new users with the creation and processing of electronic documents.
  • Applies budget analysis techniques to track, monitor and report information and make appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Compiles, analyzes and disseminates budget and financial data, and writes relevant summaries.
  • Utilizes specialized spreadsheets, databases and financial analysis software to improve understanding and reporting of budget estimates and scenarios.
  • Reviews electronic budget documents.
  • Assists in preparing training schedules and course materials.
  • Performs business transactions, such as travel requisitions, purchasing, reimbursements, account reconciliation, inventory, etc. for assigned offices and/or departments.
  • Conducts adhoc reporting and analysis requiring problem-solving ability in the course of budget and related operational processes as needed.
  • Assists in resolving funding problems regarding funding sources, cost issues, budget categories, account balances/insufficient funds, etc.
  • Assists in the analysis and preparation of annual operating budget and provides technical assistance to departments regarding the institution's budget system.
  • Identifies change opportunities, recommends and implements business process changes to improve work efficiencies and effectiveness that will contribute to the achievement of the business goals and objectives.
  • Assists in the design and delivery of training on budgeting and financial management reporting processes and systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Periodic:
  • Performs special studies, research and analysis of financial issues.
  • Assists in the review and reconciliation for the annual merit and equity pay processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • At the department's discretion, experience may substitute for education on an equal basis.
  • Two years of experience in budget preparation, accounting or financial management analyses.
  • One year of experience working with financial systems, data reporting, retrieval and analyses tools.
  • Knowledge of principles and theories of finance, accounting or related fields and disciplines.
  • Moderate level of competency with Microsoft spreadsheets, database retrieval and reports.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a team-oriented environment and be a self-starter.
  • Excellent organizational skills in prioritization of work.
  • Personal computer, adding machine and standard office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Similar experience in public sector higher education or similar organization.
  • PeopleSoft Commitment Control or Commitment Accounting experience.
  • Hyperion Essbase Planning and On Line Analytical (OLAP) Reporting Tools.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (ORACLE/PeopleSoft) finance and/or human capital management.
Working Conditions
  • Normal office working conditions.
  • Able to work under strict time constraints.
  • Overtime hours and weekends occasionally required to meet deadlines.
This position will be primarily located:
Hybrid-Regularly: This position will require working both remotely and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
