The Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin and Seton Ascension is seeking an exceptional board certified or board eligible gastroenterologist at the Assistant or Associated Professor rank to join the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Ascension Seton is the leading provider of healthcare services in Central Texas, serving an 11-county population of 2 million. The organization operates 5 major medical centers, 2 community hospitals, 3 rural hospitals, a mental health hospital, several rehab/medical centers for well patients, and 3 primary care clinics for the uninsured.

This is an exciting time for the partnership between Dell Medical School and Ascension Seton and we would like to recruit colleagues that share our academic vision and enthusiasm.

JOB SUMMARY

The faculty will primarily be responsible for the growth of a General Gastroenterology practice at Ascension Seton, Central Austin, for state of the art, value-driven healthcare delivery congruent with the goals of Dell Medical School. This position will comprise of inpatient gastroenterology consult service (approximately 1 week per month), outpatient clinics, and endoscopy. There are no scheduled outpatient clinics during inpatient weeks. Advance endoscopy training is preferred but not necessary.

The hospital and clinics are located in Central Austin, which is one of the fastest growing and vibrant cities in the country, Austin is home of legendary live music, an eclectic restaurant scene and a dynamic social scene! Austin and the Texas Hill Country are amazing places to live, work and recreate. More than 300 days of clear skies every year.

Qualifications

* MD degree with Board Certification (or Board Eligibility if within 2 years of residency) in Internal Medicine.

* Training and experience in quality improvement initiatives.

* Eligibility for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

* Ability to interact with peers, executives, employees, and consultants in a manner that represents the Dell Medical School and Ascension Seton positively.

* Sound judgment in decision-making, and importantly clinical judgment.

* Ability to learn and apply new information, knowledge and experiences in a timely manner.

* Flexibility and adaptability to change.

* Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects and to prioritize.

* Plan, promote, demonstrate, recommend and coordinate high standards of evidence-based medical practice.

* Perform other duties as assigned.
