The Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an exceptional physician leader to join the Department of Internal Medicine in the UT Health Primary Care clinic. Successful applicants should have experience in academic General Internal Medicine, and be board-certified in Internal Medicine.
BACKGROUND
Dell Medical School (DMS) is the first medical school established in nearly five decades by a member of the Association of American Universities, an organization of leading public and private research universities. An extraordinary commitment of resources, both public and private, has been made to enable its development and success. The Dell Medical School enrolled its first class of 50 undergraduate medical students in June of 2016 and graduated this first class in 2020. In February 2020, the Dell Medical School received full LCME accreditation. The Department of Internal Medicine is home to 129 faculty and 68 residents. Our residency includes a Primary Care Track and a Distinctions Track in Care Transformation, plus 5 preliminary interns in Medicine. We have fellowship training programs in Gastroenterology, Hematology and Oncology, Palliative Care, and Pulmonary / Critical Care. The Department is comprised of 11 Divisions, and collaborates closely with other Departments in the School of Medicine and across the UT Austin Campus. We are partnered with a number of care delivery organizations in the Austin / Travis County community, including the Seton-Ascension system, Community Care, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Dell Seton Medical Center (DSMC) is a 220-bed, safety net, Level 1 Trauma Center, and serves as the inpatient training facility for our residents.
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a dynamic, innovative general internist to provide clinical care, leadership and oversight for clinical operations of the clinic, and lead innovations in the Dell Medical School Primary Care Clinic. This physician will be a member of a collaborative healthcare team providing comprehensive primary care to adult patients. The scope of practice is defined through the Practice's credentialing and privileging committee. Participation in scholarly activities is also expected, such as clinical research and quality improvement projects with an aim to meaningfully improve healthcare system processes and delivery of high value care.
