As a vital member of our team reporting to the UTIA Director of Human Resources, you'll play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive human resources support throughout UTIA. From employee culture, employee relations, compensation, HRIS, employee development, recruitment to leveraging data in decision making, every day offers challenges and opportunities for growth. As a Human Resources Consultant Iyou will:

  • Work closely with UTIA Director of Human Resources in partnership other UTIA key leaders that include the Dean of Herbert College, The UTIA Associate Vice Chancellor of Faculty Affairs, the UTIA Chief Operating Officer, the UTIA Associate Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communications, the Chair of the Smith Center for International Sustainable Agriculture among many others to ensure UTIA attracts, retains and develops a world leading workforce.
  • You will collaborate effectively with a diverse and exceptionally talented higher education workforce. You must effectively communicate and foster trust to navigate to HR solutions that are mindful and respectful of a matrixed decision-making environment.
  • You will efficiently manage your time and tasks to complete required transactional or data focused activities in UTIA’s HRIS or related systems. This efficiency is critical because inefficiency will draw your time away from the opportunity to directly collaborate with people.
  • You will drive to completion of projects that might include the creation of a faculty candidate spousal employment toolkit and playbook; creation of content for the UTIA HR website, launching an exciting employee reward system to recognize excellence in our workforce, among many other possibilities.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, I/O Psychology, Organizational Development, or related field with two or more years of relevant experience in Human Resources.
or
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, candidates with three or more years of experience in Human Resources will also be considered.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • An advanced degree in Human Resources or Business
  • 5 or more years of experience in Human Resources

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A demonstrated passion for a career in Human Resources
  • Have a demonstrated history of building trusted relationships with a client group
  • Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills
  • The ability to work with data, the ability to apply data in decision making and to use data visualization tools
  • Experience at navigating sometimes complex employee relations issues
  • Experience at guiding managers and employees in evaluating performance, developing skills ands knowledge and moving forward in careers
  • Experience in recruiting to include interviewing, evaluating, offering and onboarding of new employees
  • A demonstrated history of working effectively with other HR partners who are subject matter experts in learning and development, employee relations, compensation, career development and HR administration
  • Recent experience in using a robust HRIS system and associated systems or tools
  • Excellence in working with and in an environment that includes a mix of face-to-face and remote working styles

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Some experience working in organizational learning and development
  • Some experience working in compensation
  • Experience working in a complex (matrixed) work environment
  • A demonstrated history of working with and improving challenging client relationships with highly talented, educated and mission driven partners
