The Student Success department in the Tickle College of Engineering (TCE) located on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) campus, is seeking a Student Success Coach interested in working in a team environment supporting the Director of Student Success. Reporting to the Director of Student Success and working alongside the Tutoring Center Director and Engineering Fundamentals Engage LLC program faculty and staff, the Student Success Coach supports multiple student success activities of Tickle College of Engineering Academic and Student Affairs that promote the academic and emotional wellbeing of our students. The role will support the daily tasks of the TCE tutoring center during the academic year and the bridge programs during the summer. In this capacity, the Student Success Coach will maintain knowledge of class schedules and curriculum to best support students, compile data to report on the center’s impact and needs and serve as a program liaison between the Tutoring Center and faculty. The role will support the Engage Living and Learning Community(LLC) by planning and executing programming. Additionally, this role will be the primary contact within Academic and Student Affairs for student grievances and facilitate issue resolution.


Required Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a field related to the position’s duties with 2 to 5 years of experience in teaching, counseling, social work, higher education administration, community outreach, and/or community engagement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Oral presentation and public speaking skills
  • Ability to lift, transport and distribute objects up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in education, higher education administration, psychology, counselor, social work, or STEM field.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a student-facing role in outreach, K-12, community college, or university setting.
  • Licenses or certifications related to accounting, business, or HR.
  • Experience in an academic environment.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
