This position supports and creates the design and development of creative material that supports the development of online courses. This position works with instructional designers and video producers to support instructional faculty in the development of visually engaging online courses, including the creation of graphics and animations. The person in this position uses their professional judgment to make key decisions with little to no oversight but will be working with other graphic designer(s) to complete and breakdown new and existing project requests.

The salary range for this position is approximately between $50,000-$60,000 per year with the potential for a hybrid working capacity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Production of graphic elements for all online courses at UT through consultation with instructors and multimedia team (including course banners, images, etc.).
  • Develops graphic content for produced video and interactive courseware, including motion graphics and animation.
  • Collaborating with others members of the media and video production team and their content to produce polished, external-facing documentation and graphic organization for step-by-step processes related to the development of online courses (such as guides for use of studio equipment and elements).
  • Design and develop custom presentation templates to support faculty content delivery for their online courses.
  • Produce graphics for newsletters, social media, etc. as needed for faculty communication.
  • Incorporate Universal Design for Learning and Accessibility standards in the production of all assets above.
  • Research, engage with, and explore future technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality.
  • Support video production team as needed. Design the visual elements of the interface, including color schemes, typography, iconography, and imagery, to create a cohesive and visually appealing look and feel while also adhering to UT/Digital Learning brand guidelines
  • Provide direct supervision and mentorship to graduate assistant(s); oversee production of work
  • Research, engage with, and explore future technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality
  • Support Video Production team as needed

Strong Candidates will have skills in:

  • HTML, CSS, and Content Management System
  • Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Video/multimedia software such as: After Effects, Apple Motion, Final Cut Pro, Premiere
  • Project Management
  • Communication, including consultations with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Graphic design and development skills
  • Knowledge of user experience

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree Graphic Design, Graphic Arts, Multimedia Design, or related field
  • Evidence of experience in the creation of graphic design assets, either through full-time employment, internships/student work, freelance work, etc

Preferred Experience:

  • 2 years of professional experience as a graphic or multimedia designer
  • After Effects or motion graphics experience
