JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Medical Administrative Specialist 2 provides administrative support to UT Internal Medicine & OB/Gyn Center including insurance verification of accounts, surgery precertification and scheduling, maintenance of delivery log, and verification of insurance consent forms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates surgery schedules for OBGYN Resident Physicians and multiple providers.
  • Completes pre-certification and verifies insurance coverage for scheduled surgeries.
  • Ensures consent forms are completed prior to surgery.
  • Verifies patient insurance seen in the office and in the hospital billed through UT Internal Medicine & OB/Gyn Center.
  • Relays information to the front desk for clarification upon patient arrival. Maintains all global delivery HEDIS reporting to insurance companies.
  • Receives and logs deliveries submitted to UT OB/Gyn Center for billing.
  • Gathers quality data and assists with care coordination.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma OR GED. (TRANSCRIPT IS REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of administrative work experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and EMR/PM.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including oral, written, and listening skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy work environment with keen attention to detail.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to work in Microsoft Office.
