University of St Thomas is Hiring a Cook/Receiving Coordinator - Catering Near Minneapolis, MN

OVERVIEW

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply to the Catering Cook/Receiving Coordinator opening within the University's Dining Services Department.

  • Full Time, 12 months out of the year
  • Work directly for the university, not a food service company
  • With full benefits, the position pays $20.00/hr

Summary of Responsibilities: 

  • Provide assistance in the food preparation of meals in back-of-house or front-of-house operations
  • Responsible for receiving products, deliveries & rotating inventory for catering; checking invoices to ensure deliverey of correct products and quantities
  • Prepare and cook catering orders for campus events
  • Assist the Kitchen in preparing meals, inventory checks, health standards or other items instructed by the Production Chef
  • Set up/close down open line workstation for service
  • Follow ServSafe food handling guidelines and maintain a clean work station
  • This position also participates in transportation of food items and requires a valid driver's license

Schedule and Location:

This position will largely work on the Minneapolis campus and have a schedule of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, but this will largely be dependent on business needs and event schedules. There will be times the person in this role will need to work on the Minneapolis campus as well as work on nights and weekends. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of experience in large-scale institutional food preparation and volume cooking
  • Preferred qualifications include experience purchasing food items from vendors and working in a large-scale food production setting
  • ServSafe certification from the State of Minnesota, and/or additional food preparation or cooking experience preferred
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is a condition of employment for this position
  • This position also participates in transportation of food items between campuses and requires a valid driver's license

This position works a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights and weekends.

This position is designated Emergency Essential. Emergency Essential employees may be expected to remain at work if campus closes during their regular work schedule or to report to work if the campus-closing announcement is made before their regular work schedule begins.
