Budget and Planning Analyst - 502514

SUMMARY: 

The primary responsibility of the Budget and Planning Analyst role is to provide analysis and stakeholder assistance for related budget service functions, which ensures an effective use and reporting of a unit’s all-funds budget. This position works closely with the budget managers, directors, and other University administrators to provide budget analysis and reporting to assist in strategic decision-making. Decisions are often not made without supervisory approval and generally have limited impact to the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Financial Analysis:

  • ERP and ROADS interfacing:
  • Assist Information Services with Annual Banner Permissions audit
  • Test Systems, implementation and upgrades related to ERP for budgeting practices
  • Provide ongoing support to leadership to create and review financial reports
  • Assist leadership in the technical creation and management of the University’s operating and endowment budget processes.
  • Develop strategies to maximize budget efficiencies across the University.
  • Oversee operating budget requests and perform reconciliations to support campus wide budget management.
  • At direction of leadership, prepare and/or contribute to the preparation of reports, briefings, presentations and responses on budget and financial planning issues (compile, analyze, interpret and integrate financial data).
  • Identifies and acts on opportunities to automate, streamline and improve reporting and budgeting procedures.
  • Prepares various ad-hoc, quarterly and year-end journal entries based on ledger analysis.

Budget Services:

  • One on One meetings with administrative support on campus to assist with questions, reporting, and budgeting practices.
  • Serve as the financial liaison between OPB and the Accounting Office

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Prepares and analyzes the monthly account reports for office leadership and explain/resolve variances.
  • Special projects, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of budget and accounting principles
  • Knowledge of financial IT systems (Banner preferred) and proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management, staff and faculty of the University

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university with a focus on accounting or finance preferred
  • 2 years of relevant work experience

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $46,114.00 to $61,110.00 annually)
