Posted Job Title Research Specialist B- Temporary Job Profile Title Temporary Employee - Non-Exempt Job Description Summary Temporary Employee - Non-Exempt Job Description Temporary Employee - Non-Exempt This position is part of the Stem Cell and Xenograft Core, a comprehensive resource facility that provides the research community with samples from patients with hematologic malignancies and healthy donors. This position will bridge the clinic and the laboratory with a scope of responsibilities ranging from identifying and consenting patients for sample collection, organizing healthy donor collection days, communicating with clinical staff to coordinate sample retrieval, processing these samples in the laboratory to bank frozen live cells. A major responsibility also includes identifying patient samples based on Core user requests, prepare these samples for shipping to users or for in vivo experiments in immune-deficient mice, enter and update clinical information in our database, maintain an accurate inventory of our tissue bank and communicate effectively with other Core staff to facilitate sample collection and processing. This position has several purposes: (1) facilitate the collection of samples from patients with hematologic malignancies and healthy donors; (2) process patient samples for tissue banking and enter patients' clinical information in a database; (3) develop and manage customer relations with principal investigators and other users of our Core services; (4) assist in planning healthy donor collection days, experiment, data analysis and presentation, method optimization and development, write standard operating procedures; (5) Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
