The Gene Therapy Program (GTP) is entering a new era of unprecedented opportunity with the great potential to reshape the face of medicine as we know it. Our discoveries have set the stage for successful treatments and possibly even cures for devastating genetic diseases.
The laboratory of Dr. Jim Wilson, at GTP of the University of Pennsylvania, has been a leader in the development of innovative vector technology for close to three decades. We have emerged as the "go-to" organization for public and private partners, who want to participate in the gene therapy space. Currently, we are positioned to lead another round of vector innovation and establish pre-clinical and clinical proof-of-concept in therapeutic applications of in-vivo genome editing.
Continuation of all GTP positions is contingent upon funding.
Job Description
The Quality Operations Manager will provide management of the Quality Assurance functions in support of internal and external manufacturing operations in compliance with internal procedures, current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), and GxP regulatory requirements. Primary focus will include QA oversight of technical documents (i.e. master batch records/executed batch records) associated with the manufacture of viral-based gene vectors (non-clinical toxicology, drug substance, and drug product lots), in support of early phase clinical studies. Additional activities will include review/approval of product specifications, product release, technical transfer activities, new product introductions, as well as review/approval of various technical documents, reports, and protocols. The Quality Operations Manager will assist and support Gene Therapy Program (GTP) business initiatives by ensuring timely completion of tasks, working with both external vendors/partners and collaborating with GTP internal departments.
The Quality Operations Manager will develop, manage, and support the Quality Assurance initiatives associated with the oversight of the Quality Operations and supervision of Quality Associate(s), clearly delegating project tasks, responsibilities, priorities, and timelines.
Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience working within in Biologics/Pharma (or equivalent) industry in a QA function; Manufacturing experience (preferred).
• Demonstrated proficiency in interpretations of cGMP/GxP regulations (GMP/GLP/FDA Guidelines/21 CFR Parts 210 & 211/ICH).
• Prior experience working in Quality Assurance organization supporting GMP manufacturing operations.
• Prior experience working with manufacturing batch records, technical transfers, product release, deviation management, CAPA, and change control.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact, effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals from all levels of the organization.
• Previous supervisory experience; working knowledge of SMART goals.
• Experience establishing and maintaining partnerships with CDMOs preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in accordance with aggressive timelines.
