Job Description Summary
This position is based in San Francisco, California.
The Executive Director manages the Wharton San Francisco campus and reports to the Faculty Director of Wharton San Francisco. The Executive Director is expected to maintain a high level of service by coordinating all functions to address the needs of a variety of clients and continually improving processes.
Job Description
Duties :
The Executive Director is responsible for leading all aspects of Wharton's San Francisco campus, including setting and executing strategy and budget in partnership with the Faculty Director. The Executive Director is expected to maintain a high level of service by coordinating all functions and continually improve processes. The individual will also partner with programs to serve their program needs cost-effectively and manage operations, including food service, budgeting, housekeeping, maintenance, security, and liaising with Philadelphia-based central functions.
More specifically, the Executive Director must:
  • Collaborate with Wharton, Penn, and occasional external programs to serve their program needs while resolving competing needs across partners. Key clients include Wharton MBA Program for Executives, Wharton Executive Education, and Wharton MBA Semester in San Francisco. Key co-curricular stakeholders include Venture Lab and External Affairs.
  • Manage all facility-related operations at Wharton SF, including relationship stewardship with landlord, event planning, and IT, among others, to ensure best practices of the University are always maintained.
  • Employ strategic planning in overall operations in order to effectively streamline processes and align competing priorities among multiple stakeholders in a complex landscape. -Manage a team of reports to support the operations of the campus. This position will require occasional travel to Philadelphia, evening/weekend work, and on-call responsibilities 24/7 as the manager of the Wharton San Francisco facility.
Qualifications :
A Masters Degree and 10 years of progressively responsible experience is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional required experience includes:
  • Experience in higher education, business administration, and/or operations management
  • Proven experience as an Executive Director or similar leadership role is highly desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact comfortably with various constituent groups, senior leadership, students, and alumni.
  • Strong problem
  • solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated strategic visioning and execution
  • Solid leadership skills including the ability to establish objectives, identify key performance indicators, set performance standards, and organize a successful approach to facility utilization
  • Ability to handle multiple competing projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience managing, coaching, and developing direct reports
  • Extensive experience in managing a multi-million dollar budget and possess a proven track record of success in financial planning and analysis. Occasional travel, evening/weekend work, and on-call responsibilities 24/7 are required.
