Job Description Summary
The Reconceptualizing Gender and Health (RGH) project is creating an innovative theoretical framework to identify key interpersonal, institutional and structural mechanisms through which conformity and non-conformity to gender expectations shape health. Our goal is to create tools and actionable information to inform health equity activities. Funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, RGH is a two-year research project located in the SexGen Lab at the School of Social Policy and Practice.
Under the direction of the SexGen Lab's co-principle investigator and director, the Community Liaison will spearhead community outreach and build strong relationships with community partners. They will be primarily responsible for community outreach and participant coordination. The Community Liaison with work with project staff to coordinate a community committee, recruit and coordinate with interview participants, and assist with qualitative interviewing and other research tasks. The Community Liaison will have opportunities for on-the-job training to further develop their research, analytical, organizational, and community outreach skills, as well as access to resources and facilities at Penn.
The Community Liaison must have deep ties with gender and/or health-related communities in Philadelphia or beyond. The appointment is for up to two years with the possibility for renewal, contingent on funding. People of all genders and all bodyminds are encouraged to apply.
The position is for 20 hours/week, is hybrid eligible, and grant funded.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
Facilitating community partnerships and public outreach, including identifying and building a network of local and national organizations to assist with research participant recruitment and with research dissemination, and organizing a community symposium.
Coordinating a community committee of activists, policymakers and practitioners who will work closely with project staff over the course of the project to support participant inclusion, research analysis and the translation of findings into practice. This includes identifying and reaching out to potential members, supporting members to complete committee tasks, and facilitating committee meetings under the direction of the PI/Director.
Coordinating interview participant intake and scheduling, including participant compensation and record keeping
Qualitative research interviewing, transcription and in-vivo and predetermined data coding and analysis using NVivo software.
Working with RGH staff to establish and implement guidelines and protocols for outreach, interviewing practices, and analysis.
Perform additional duties as assigned, including participation in convocation and graduation ceremonies as needed.
Qualifications
Associates and 2 - 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. The successful applicant must have strong community-based and/or outreach experience; the ability to work with folks from a wide range of backgrounds; analytic curiosity; and strong organizational skills and attention to detail. They must also have an understanding of and/or experience with health- and/or gender-related issues and communities. The successful applicant must have deep ties with gender and/or health-related communities in Philadelphia or beyond.

Hybrid Eligible - This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with a work week divided between working onsite and working remotely.
Target rate is $22.00 to $28.00/hour, commensurate with relevant education and experience.
