Position Summary

The University of New Mexico’s Project ECHO has an amazing opportunity for a Program Coordinator to join our team! This individual will assist in the development and execution of the Community Peer Education Project (CPEP) and the New Mexico Peer Education Project (NMPEP).

CPEP and NMPEP is a collaboration between Project ECHO and the New Mexico Corrections Department. With a solutions-based focus, CPEP works closely with a marginalized population of returning citizens to train them become Community Peer Educators, while NMPEP trains selected prisoners to become Peer Educators. The goal of these projects is to increase an individual’s self-efficacy to ensure successful transition back into the community and ultimately reduce recidivism.

As a successful Program Coordinator, you will work alongside other project members to coordinate weekly teleECHO program sessions, as well as providing in-person training at various statewide locations like the probation and parole offices and prison facilities. You will play an active role in:

* Assisting in the planning and organizing of CPEP team meetings
* Acting as central point of contact for day to day operations of CPEP between the 4 New Mexico Probation and Parole regional liaisons and Program Manager
* Ordering and organizing supplies and travel for in-person site visits, pop-up shops, and workshops to the 4 New Mexico Probation and Parole regions
* Scheduling and coordinating meetings between Sr. Associate Director, Sr. Program Manager, Program Manager or Program Coordinator with internal or external constituencies involved in program activities
* Scheduling and organizing meetings with external partners, including agenda development, note-taking, and follow up emails
* Creating educational presentations and developing regular curriculum CPEP TeleECHO sessions
* Creating informational and marketing materials for CPEP and NMPEP
* Creating educational HCV flyers for explanation of testing and treatment in the 4 New Mexico Probation and Parole regions
* Using Smartsheet and other software platforms such as Box, iECHO, and Outlook for data collection for CPEP bi-weekly TeleECHO sessions and from CPEP in-person site visits and trainings
* Providing relevant data reports to Program Manager and CPEP stakeholders as requested
* Securing security clearances for entry in 10 NM prison facilities for all NMPEP training team and guests for all in-person prison visits and trainings
* Attending and co-facilitating NMPEP 40-hour trainings in 10 NM prison facilities
* Coordinating training dates with NM prison liaisons to conduct in person "Train the Trainer," NMPEP 40 Hour Trainings and for NMPEP Enhanced COVID-19 Education Training for peer educators

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft 365
  • Demonstrated knowledge of online platforms like Smartsheet, Canva, etc.
  • Fluency in Spanish
