Position Summary

The UNM-ValenciaCampus Upward Bound Program is taking applications for an On-Call Tutor for thesummer session. This is an on-call grant-funded position with current fundingavailable through 08/31/2024.
Thisperson will provide support in Math at the target area high school (ValenciaHigh School) as well at UNM-Valencia Campus.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 students per semester. UNM has earned the platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org for its workplace policies.

Conditions of Employment
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of full-time college; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years experience in Tutoring/Teaching
  • Experience working with at-risk and first-generation college students
  • Experience preparing differentiated instruction
  • Ability to tutor in Math including Algebra and Geometry
