Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Postdoctoral Scholar, (Soft Robotics, Electroactive Polymers, and/or Materials Science) College of Engineering [R0141532]. ROLE of the POSITION The Mechanical Engineering Department within the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering at UNLV invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, Postdoctoral Scholar of Mechanical Engineering commencing May 1, 2024. The position is renewable for up to two additional years (3 years total), pursuant to availability of funds. This postdoctoral scholar will work on research topics related to Soft Robotics, Electroactive Polymers, and/or Materials Science, with an emphasis on soft materials. This position will be funded under the research grant UNLV Bioinspired Multi-Functional Soft Materials for Naval Applications, ending May 31, 2027. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a PhD Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Prior research experience in soft-robotics, soft sensor and actuator materials and/or electroactive polymer as well as a good publication history are desired.
