Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications Associate Director, UNLV Student Life, Business Services [R0141644] ROLE of the POSITION This position is under the direct supervision of the Director for Finance and Administration, Student Life Business Services (SLBS), and works closely with the Associate Vice President for Student Life and Student Life Leadership Team. The Associate Director serves as an integral member of Student Life by supporting administrative and leading the budgetary initiative of the Student Life. The Associate Director will provide support, guidance, and direction relating to proper business practices. This position will ensure all business processes are compliant with established NSHE, BOR, NRS, NAC, and University policies, procedures, and best practice: maintain the integrity of program accounts and use of funds with the goal of maximizing availability of funds for priorities established by the division while meeting reporting and financial information requirements of the University. The incumbent is responsible for day-to-day operations including general accounting and general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and account management. This position will assist Student Life with business processes in Workday, including being a back-up for the human resources processes. The Student Life Business Services has six Accounting Technicians and one Accounting Assistant 3 reporting to this position. The Associate Director will assist the Director with creating internal policies, procedures, audits, financial forecasting models, responsible for the budget cycle, training, and in other special projects as needed. This position may serve as the Director’s representative in budget and strategic planning meetings. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Direct supervision of seven full-time classified staff; responsibilities include hiring, training, evaluation and daily supervision. Lead the Student Life budget cycle process with the Director. Develop and recommend changes to policy and procedures to the Director related to areas of internal control and oversight and as they relate to the operations of the Business Office. Participation in facilities related RFP processes. Recommendation for system modification or adjustments based on terms of contracts. Tracking and reconciliation of project accounts. Ensure accounts are closed at project completion and funds distributed accordingly. Work closely with the University departments and vendors to ensure efficient processes with a high level of accountability. Recommendation and development of reports to track and reconcile activities per contract terms and perimeters that will result in fluid reporting and effective progress assessment. Support the Director in the preparation and reporting of annual account activity variances and forecasting as well as required annual reports such as UBIT, and YE Accounts Receivables and Deferred Income Statements. Reporting, analysis and projections of utility, maintenance and other related work tags. Recommend encumbrance adjustment, etc. as applicable. Work collaboratively as a team to create a living strategic plan and actively strive to achieve both the short and long- term objectives using metrics to gauge results and suggest changes based on results. Provide guidance and training with Workday business processes. Student Life Workday Financial Specialist. Student Life liaison for Workday updates. Provide back up to Assistant Director of Administration, which include Workday oversight for Student Life recruitments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and Minimum of four years full time experience (post bachelors with one-year experience in direct supervision of full- time staff required). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ● Outcome assessment and analysis experience preferred. ● Experience with strategic planning and working with area/department planning preferred. ● Experience working in a college/university setting preferred.
