Job Description

Research in the Data-Algorithms-Networking-Security (DANS) lab conducts research projects including Cybersecurity, Machine Learning, Internet-of-Things, Mobile and Wireless Communications, Software Defined Networking, 5G/6G mobile communication, Networking, Embedded Systems, and Cloud Edge Computing for interdisciplinary applications.

The lab is seeking part time Research Aide to assist in our NSF CBL Agility project led by Dr. Baek-Young Choi. The primary duties of this position are to:

  • Conduct research on existing 5G testbeds, including their architectures, capabilities, and use cases.
  • Collaborate with the team to define requirements for a private 5G testbed.
  • Design, build, and test a private 5G testbed using Open Source 5G platforms.
  • Perform thorough testing of the 5G testbed platform, including functionality, performance, and security aspects.
  • Document the research findings, test results, and any issues encountered during the testing phase.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of test data to draw actionable insights.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to team members working on related projects.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments and advancements in 5G technology and testbed implementations.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols, especially in the context of wireless communications.
  • Proficiency in Linux-based system administrations and shell scripting
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang, Python, C/C , or Java.
  • Familiarity with Open Source 5G platforms and tools, such as OpenAirInterface, Open5GS, or OAI-UE.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced research environment.
Anticipated Hiring Range

$18/hr
