Job Description

Join the Campus Facilities Management (CFM) team as a skilled BTS Painter, responsible for expertly applying paints, coatings, and coverings to surfaces throughout our campus.We are seeking individuals who thrive in both indoor and outdoor settings and take pride in maintaining visually appealing spaces for faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess painting area to determine appropriate paint type, surface preparation steps, required equipment, and any necessary environmental health procedures.
  • Prepare services for painting, including moving furniture and fixtures, protecting floors and furniture, and setting up scaffolding, ladders, or staging equipment. Preparation tasks may involve filling holes, cracks, and joints, as well as sandblasting, grinding, or other methods.
  • Apply paints and coatings using various methods such as brushes, rollers, sprays, or specialized applicators. Select and mix materials to match specified colors, textures, and drying properties, providing input on paint color, quality, and cost considerations.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the painting area upon completion, returning materials and equipment to their original state.
  • Perform additional tasks such as painting signs, cutting stencils, etching surfaces, and marking parking lot lines and curbs as required.
  • Assist with cost estimates, material orders, reports, and record maintenance as needed.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Shift

6:30am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities are acquired.
  • Four years actual work experience and training including the equivalent of apprenticeship or vocational training in the trade (e.g. painting and wall covering) is required.
  • Depending on the location of the position, some jobs may require two years of journeyman level experience, including apprentice or vocational training, installing vinyl wall covering.
  • Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in the trade.
  • A valid Missouri driver's license is required.
  • Ability daily to:
    • Grasp, lift, carry and set down heavy objects (50-75 lbs.)
    • Shovel snow, climb ladders and operate heavy power equipment.
    • Depending on nature of work performed, may be required to wear a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) as outlined in the "Industrial Standard for Respirator Use".
Anticipated Hiring Range

Commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
