JOB DUTIES
Initial assessment and triage of patients who present to Mizzou Urgent Care.
Monitor physiological conditions of patients and give timely notification to physician regarding changes in patient status.
Prepare patients and equipment/supplies for procedures.
Provide nursing care to patients according to departmental and critical care nursing standards.
Assists physician during procedures.
Administer intravenous and oral medications to patients. Initiates intravenous therapy as indicated, utilizing aseptic technique with appropriate IV catheter and fluid. Ensures that medication is labeled appropriately.
Advocate for the patient at all stages of the care continuum.
Educate patients and families about the patient's illness, their care, and treatment plan.
Participate in life-saving measures and aid in transfer of patients via EMS.
May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of nursing experience in acute care, urgent care, or emergency room setting.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
