Job Description

The University of Missouri J. Otto Lottes Health Sciences Library seeks an innovative, flexible, and collaborative Information and Data Services Librarian to join our dedicated, energetic team, and provide overall coordination, planning and training support for library reference and data management services. The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Director of Information Services and Resources and will provide overall coordination of reference services and leadership in developing research data support services. As part of the reference services team, the candidate will provide virtual and in-person consultations, including literature searching and training support, to assist users at all stages of their research process, and will serve as liaison to hospital nurses and medical staff in our graduate medical education programs.

Description of Duties1.Provide reference help and consultations to guide students, staff, and faculty through all stages of their research and educational activities.2.Provide leadership and coordination for library research data support services through curation, consultation, and the creation of instructional materials to increase the visibility and usability of research data in collaboration with the Research Support Librarian.3.Provide overall coordination, program planning and training for the library reference services team. 4.Cover regular assigned shifts to monitor live chat and to provide reference backup for frontline staff.5.Coordinate support and training for residents and fellows engaged in research in our graduate medical education programs in collaboration with the Educational Services Librarian.6.Serve as liaison to hospital nursing personnel. 7.May be assigned additional responsibilities to departments or research projects.8.Special projects/other duties as assigned.While the Health Sciences Library is closed for renovations, the Information and Data Services Librarian will be 100% remote. The library is expected to re-open in Fall 2024. Options for hybrid work will be available after the library reopens.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:A master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited programCandidates will be evaluated on:*Commitment to outstanding customer service *Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a marked ability to communicate with many diverse groups of people*Experience in library services or a research or clinical environment*Experience in searching PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, CINAHL, Scopus; experience with Zotero &/or other personal file management programs*Ability to work in a team environment*Teaching experience*Course work in health sciences librarianship or experience in a health sciences library*Course work in managing, sharing or curating quantitative research data, or direct experience supporting researchers in managing, sharing and curating their data*Knowledge of data services concepts, such as: data management plans, data curation, data visualization, research and data lifecycle support, open data, and data literacy*Knowledge of programming languages, such as: Python, R, and SQL *Willingness to take an active role in developing a new library program and promoting a new suite of library services*Experience/familiarity with principles of evidence-based health care

Anticipated Hiring Range

This position holds non-tenure track (NTT) faculty status.
