How Is This Role Important to Our Work?
The Director of Business Development plays a critical role in the overall success of our enterprise growth strategy. This role is accountable for supporting and driving the business development and innovation activities, processes, financial modeling and business case development. The Director of Business Development will focus on identifying opportunities in the market to expand our market share, and organizational reputation through product innovation and the identification of new business models. This individual will be responsible for developing and driving strategic goals into specific business plans and creating a successful and collaborative team to achieve these goals. The role will need to partner with leaders across the enterprise including, finance, provider relations, clinical, corporate development, procurement, data analytics, marketing, and operations to support the needed matrix relationship(s) and execute on a differentiated value proposition. This role plays a unique role in divisional strategy as it creates, pivots and responds to both the need of the business and the market. The incumbent will need the ability to have success in ambiguity, fluid business conditions and ever evolving strategy.
A Day in the Life:
  • Develop a divisional level process to support innovations and advancements.
  • Manage intake and initial assessment of feasibility to create a formalized and transparent innovation pipeline.
  • Translate analysis and insights into concepts and business cases
  • Explore and support business to business opportunities and areas of innovation with strategic clients and prospects to deepen relationships with Blue Cross.
  • Drive execution and provide relationship oversight for identified opportunities.
  • Leads a small team of Business Development Analysts.

Required Skills and Experiences:
  • Accepting this director level position at BCBSMN requires signing an Employee Confidentiality, Intellectual Property Assignment and Restrictive Covenants Agreement as a condition of employment.
  • Financial modeling and business case development experience
  • 7 years of related professional experience, with 3 years of management experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • Experience managing in a matrix environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proven desire for knowledge and a track record of developing processes and relationships to support strategic development and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, drive results and excel in collaborative cross-functional environment.
  • Advanced analytical skills and knowledge.
Role Designation:
Hybrid Remote
Role designation definition: Teleworking is working full time remote. Hybrid is a combination of working onsite and remotely. Onsite is full-time onsite.
