Summary

The Department of Internal Medicine is the largest department in the University of Michigan Medical School with 13 divisions - all dedicated to advancing patient care, education, and research. The Marketing Communications Specialist will be a member of the Internal Medicine communication team that works to promote research, education, and recruitment Initiatives. You will work with specific specialties to strategize, plan, and manage day-to-day digital content production of content, copy, and visual assets across all our channels, including websites, email, and social media. In addition, this position will plan and execute continuing medical education webinars to advance the departments educational mission, expertise, and national reputation. This position will work collaboratively with Michigan Medicines Department of Communications and colleagues from the U-M Medical School.

Responsibilities*

  • Create ongoing strategies to promote the departments reputation, recruitment efforts, and national standing.
  • Write and edit content that aligns with brand guidelines, reflects key messages, and resonates with target audiences.
  • Create visually compelling graphics for digital and print materials including social media posts, email campaigns, web, and promotional materials.
  • Develop and design print collateral such as brochures, flyers, and invites.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather information and develop accurate and compelling content.
  • Develop, manage, and proactively maintain internal and external website content.
  • Oversee web performance using analytic tools and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimize content strategy and increase engagement across channels including, but not limited to, Twitter (X) and LinkedIn.
  • Organize, schedule, and manage approximately three to five continuing medical education webinars annually.
  • Assist with event planning as needed.
  • Provide writing, editing, and proofreading support on various communications projects and offer backup to team members as needed.
  • Stay up to date on the latest features and tools within Adobe Creative Cloud to enhance design capabilities and efficiency.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • Technical proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, website content management systems, and Google Analytics.
  • Experience managing multiple content areas (print, graphic, social media, web, etc.).
  • Knowledge of email marketing tools.
  • Deep understanding of marketing principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital marketing trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written), and an ability to engage with Michigan Medicine leadership, faculty, staff, and external healthcare physicians.
  • Experience with video editing and motion graphics is a plus.

Work Schedule

This position is fully remote, Monday-Friday.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
