The Information Resources Assistant Intermediate (IRAI) is a member of the Stacks Services unit at the Law Library. The IRAI records and processes newly received continuations and serials, works on bindery activities including collecting and collating material, shelves and shifts books, supersedes material and updates range signs. They are a member of two library wide groups, the Shared Tasks Group that does office deliveries and ID Checks and is also a member of the Mail Task Group that retrieves and sorts mail. The Information Resources Assistant Intermediate works within the context of departmental and library-wide goals under the supervision of the Head of Stacks Services.

Records continuations and serials. Creates item records, labels, tattle-tapes and flags processed materials.
Collects and collates unbound material for binding. Creates bindery tickets using the ABLE database.
Processes damaged books for preservation boxing and rebinding
Itemizes books returned from the bindery, includes checking the quality of binding
Shelves and shifts books.
Processes paging, pulls and recall requests
Exchanges new material for superseded; shelve new material according to a variety of special instructions; identify, pull and process superseded material.
Files pocket parts
Files loose-leaf services.
Processes carrel assignments. Checks carrels.
Updates range signs, as needed.
Participates in the Library Shared Tasks Group including office deliveries, printer and equipment checks, and ID checks
Member of the Mail Task Group. Retrieves and sorts mail
Works on special projects throughout the Law Library (such as scanning, electronic link checking, and maintaining physical reserves)
Other duties as assigned
One year of library or relevant work experience
Demonstrated attention to detail
Ability to push heavy book trucks and repetitively carry and lift books weighting up to five pounds
Ability to work in a dusty environment
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
