Summary

We are seeking a Financial Analyst Intermediate to join our team in the Accounting Operations area of Financial Operations. This position serves an important role in assisting departments throughout the university with day- to-day accounting and reporting responsibilities as well as preparing financial reports, analyses and reconciliations.

Please note: We have posted this position as a Financial Analyst Intermediate but could opt to underfill at an Accountant Intermediate level. The candidate will be offered the position at the analyst or accountant level based on their overall qualifications and experience in areas directly relevant to the responsibilities of the position. The expected Financial Analyst Intermediate salary begins at $66,500. If underfilled as an Accountant Intermediate, the expected salary begins at $58,000. Salary will be based on overall qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities*

  • Review transactions to ensure compliance with contracts, gift agreements, governmental regulations, accounting standards and university policies, including transactions related to capitalization of assets and establishment of endowments
  • Reconcile accounts and follow-up, as appropriate, to resolve specific accounting or supporting documentation issues
  • Prepare and present a variety of financial reports, including those related to fund, department or project grant activity
  • Analyze and summarize variances of management financial reports
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules to support the external audit, and donor or regulatory needs
  • Prepare journal entries and coordinate appropriate source documents
  • Answer phone calls and emails from schools, colleges and units about accounting policy and procedures, including proper utilization of accounts and processing of transactions
  • Special projects, including ad-hoc reports and analysis

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a major specialization in accounting (or similar education and experience); a minimum grade point average of 3.0 is necessary
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, query tools and software to model and analyze data
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate and work with a variety of individuals
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks with varied deadlines, as well as identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Proven ability to think independently, work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience working with complex financial and administrative information systems (Oracle PeopleSoft helpful)
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of complex information to present simple and concise material to the appropriate audience
  • Experience working in a higher education and/or academic medical center setting

Work Locations

This position currently works remotely and it is expected, but not guaranteed, to continue to be remote in the future.
