The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Vice President of Advancement and Alumni Relations in the Office of the President.

This newly envisioned position presents an exciting opportunity to redefine an advancement office and, with the President, shape a campaign for the 60 th anniversary of a university whose mission has always been to meet all students from every background when and how they need it. The primary purpose is to provide effective leadership and direction for institutional advancement and alumni engagement in support of the university’s mission and goals. The Vice President serves as the chief development officer. The Vice President is also responsible for setting (in consultation with the President) and achieving the university’s short- and long-term institutional fundraising goals and objectives as well as for outreach to partnerships with the local, state, and regional donors, corporations, foundations, and communities. As a member of the President’s leadership team, s/he participates in the planning and implementation of major university policies.

Salary: The hiring salary range for this position is between $115,000 and $120,000 and is commensurate with training, education, and experience and will take into consideration the salary of current UMS employees for transfer/promotion.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Three or more years of experience in development, gift processing, community engagement, or related areas
  • Demonstrated high-level experience in leading fund-raising campaigns
  • Experience with budgeting, bookkeeping, or accounting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite software or other comparable software suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior engagement with and deep understanding of community engagement in Kennebec County and the State of Maine
  • Membership and active participation in national, regional, and local professional organizations related to fundraising and external relations such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Maine Public Relations Council (MPRC)
