The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Director of Academic Success. This position can be located on the Augusta or Bangor campus.

The Director of Academic Success provides leadership, vision, and management for the Division of Academic Success. The Director will engage in program design, assessment, and marketing of division services and assure compliance with relevant laws and standards governing such programs. They will serve as a consultant to University staff in support of student learning, provision of disability/accommodation services, academic success initiatives, and overall student success. When needed, they will deliver direct services to students in all department areas. The Director will provide input, guidance, and support to the University’s retention efforts, and participate in departmental and institution-wide student success programs.

Salary: The hiring salary range for this position is in the high 50s to mid-60s, and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, evenings and weekends as necessary.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in an appropriate discipline such as Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or another related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in delivering services in support of learning, academic success, or services for individuals with disabilities, with at least three years of experience in higher education
  • Experience in the management/supervision of staff and/or student workers
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Computer literacy and ability to navigate student case-related software system

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant knowledge regarding disability services and factors involved in disability services in higher education (such as disability law, adaptive technology, and standardized learning assessments)
  • Awareness of the principles of effective teaching practices, especially in distance modalities
  • Teaching experience
  • Commitment to student success via awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and factors of systematic inequities of minoritized students
  • Budget management experience
