Position Title: New Iberia Research Center: Flow Cytometry Laboratory Specialty Analyst

ORGANIZATION:
The position reports to ResearchResources, Laboratory Manager of the New Iberia Research Center (NIRC). The New Iberia Research Center provides resourcesfor the conduct of basic and applied research requiring the use of non-humanprimates aimed at the solution of human health and societal problems. In addition, the Center serves as a resourceto the biomedical community-enabling investigators from other institutions toconduct all or part of their research.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: This position encompasses development and performance of flow cytometrybased specialty procedures, including SOP generation, and validation ofapplicable procedures and instrumentation for pharmacodynamics and efficacytesting of novel preclinical therapeutics. NIRC currently hosts a BD FACSAriaFusion and a Miltenyi MACsQuant16. Analysis and coordination of activities in flow cytometry (providetechnical and scientific support for biomarker combinations, data analysis usingFlowJo and large data sets by tSNE or equivalent) with samples from non-humanprimates. Responsible for the maintenance of flow cytometers, orderinglaboratory supplies for cytometry and training of new personnel in theseprocedures. Assist in the isolation of cells from blood, bone marrow and othertissues, and/or dose formulation procedures.

Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in a scientific disciplineappropriate for the nature of the work conducted at UL Lafayette, New IberiaResearch Center (NIRC). Expertise inmulti-parametric flow cytometry/sorting a must. Prior experience in preparingpreclinical trial dosing formulations, cell separation techniques and ELISPOTassays is also a plus. Strong computerskills are a must, as are skills in managing, planning, and organizing multipleactivities. A motivated self-starter capable of meeting establisheddeadlines. Demonstrate the ability tocommunicate effectively with all staff members and visitors of the UL LafayetteNIRC.
