Role Overview
The HR Business Partner is a strategic role designed to align university objectives with employees and management within designated operating units. As the out-facing element of the larger HR operation, this position serves as the primary point of contact for both employees and managers, acting as a consultant, champion, and change agent. The HR Business Partner will navigate complex employee relations, offer strategic human resources guidance, and drive initiatives that enhance work relationships, morale, productivity, and retention.
Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between HR and departmental management, ensuring seamless communication and service delivery that aligns with the University's goals and values.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues through effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Provide consultation on the administration of human resources programs, plans, and policies, fostering an environment of trust and integrity.
  • Work closely with management and employees to cultivate positive work relationships, enhance morale, and boost productivity and retention.
  • Offer strategic guidance on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning, ensuring alignment with the University's long-term objectives.
  • Design and deliver training sessions that support the development of skills aligned with the University's mission and customer experience vision.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to management of employees, ensuring compliance and reducing legal risks.

Position will be designated as Associate Human Resources Business Partner, Human Resources Business Partner, or Senior Human Resources Business Partner depending on experience and competency across Human Resources functions.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, psychology, or relatedfield.
  • Professional-level experience or certification in human resources
    • Associate HRBP - Minimum 1 year experience or significant coursework in human resources management or PHR/SHRM-CP or higher certification.
    • HRBP - Minimum three (3) years experience and demonstrated competence in employee relations
    • Senior HRBP - Minimum five (5) years experience and demonstrated competence in employee relations and an additional area of HR practice, e.g. HRIS, compensation, benefits, etc.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to act as a change agent within an organization.
  • Deep commitment to customer service excellence and a proactive, positive approach to problem-solving.
