University of Kansas is Hiring a Public Services Student Assistant - Spencer Research Library Near Lawrence, KS
Job Description
This position is in the Spencer Research Library which houses rare books and manuscripts along with University Archives. The building is located behind Strong Hall. The position duties include paging, shelving, and carefully maintaining the materials. Students also staff the reception and reference desks on a rotating schedule. There are cleaning and special projects assigned on a regular basis. Special projects can include setting up for events, assisting curators with collections, shifting in the stacks, developing temporary exhibits, and contributing to the Spencer Blog.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours with the University of Kansas.
- Must be able to maintain a weekly schedule.
- Must be available to work at least 2 hours at a time.
- Work experience that required attention to detail and accuracy, as demonstrated by application materials
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently or with others following written and verbal instructions.
- Previous library experience and/or familiarity with Libraries.
- Knowledge of microfilm and reproduction equipment.
- Experience with rare books, manuscripts, and/or archival material.
- Experience working in customer service.

Work Schedule
Between the hours of 9 AM - 5 PM Monday - Friday, Saturday 9AM - 1 PM, based around class schedule.
