The part-time Research Assistant will work as part of a team and may be assigned to any of the following projects: testing online communication training for nursing home staff in 128 communities nationwide; developing and testing evidence-based communication training for dementia family caregivers; testing a natural language processing app to provide feedback on use of elderspeak to reinforce training; and/or collecting and analyzing data collected from dementia family caregivers as part of the University of Kansas Alzheimer's disease research center.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing, gerontology, communication studies or related discipline.
Ongoing study with commitment to improving care for older adults.
Strong English skills
Demonstrated ability to write and communicate with a scientific audience.
Ability to independently plan, multi-task and complete projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience on a research team.
Prior experience in care of persons with dementia and/or their family caregivers.
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
