Provide technical real estate support for planning, evaluating, drafting and processing leases and licenses and certain internal property management functions.

Additional responsibilities include:

Coordinate lease and license document approvals with Legal, Risk Management Provost Office or Budget and Financial Administration Offices.

  • Draft lease, license and easement documents in accordance with University policies and procedures and the IL Procurement Code for leases in Chicago and other locations within the State of Illinois.
  • Organize, coordinate and manage lease database, files and records to assure all deadlines are met. This includes maintenance of the master lease spreadsheet.
  • Provide services and develop effective working relationships with users/clients.
  • Assist in implementing contract management system for department and/or other procurement and compliance related initiatives.
  • Coordinate and conduct site visits for University units seeking third-party leased space as well as for tenants seeking to lease University-owned space.
  • Provide support for acquisitions and dispositions of University property.
  • Other duties as assigned appropriate for a Real Estate Specialist.
  • Hybrid work schedule may be approved, but occasional travel to the Urbana main office and site visits to various properties as needed is required.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or another field of study related to real estate
  • Illinois Real Estate Broker's license.
Knowledge and Experience:

Required:

  • Two years' experience in real estate related business operations
  • Experience negotiating and preparing transactions
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to address complex issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills that reflect courtesy, diplomacy, and a collaborative approach to develop and maintain effective business relationships
  • Ability to work independently and to exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of all work assignments
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work accordingly to meet deadlines while staying on task with daily assignments
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform property management duties and required reporting for the university-owned facilities as assigned
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IL Managing Broker license
