Position Summary Under minimal supervision, serves as a lead contributor in the planning, development, implementation, and production of healthcare software applications, which includes the Electronic Health Record systems, specifically Epic revenue cycle applications and integrating systems. Provides production application support on a rotating 24/7 basis. Uses prior analytical experience to provide application support and consulting to internal IS staff, end users, and vendors on complex design and/or service issues. Responsible for developing the specifications and standards for healthcare software applications. Duties & Responsibilities
As part of the access and revenue cycle team, use experience to work in collaboration with Epic representatives and the UI Health clinical and business community to ensure the EHR systems meet the organizations overall clinical and business needs.
Lead efforts to gather information from clinicians/ staff regarding clinical and operational workflows, as well as, business goals and risks to define new healthcare application requirements.
Lead efforts to recommend innovative application solutions to operational workflows, patient safety, productivity, and financial problems. Assist application teams in development of design and required documentation. Analyze business processes and reengineer those processes to improve business and/or clinical needs, identifying the upstream and downstream impacts.
Lead design of new tools, components, and functionalities within healthcare applications. Implement software modifications and document changes to designs, tools, components, functionalities and processes.
Plan, review, perform, and test new software releases, ensuring adherence to the testing policies and procedures for application team members. Develop and follow plans to collect information regarding potential system enhancement needs and coordinates preparation of specifications as needed.
Engage with vendors and maintain vendor relationships. Participate in analysis of vendor solutions and enforce vendor service level agreements (SLA). Contact vendor to resolve issues.
Identify areas for improvement and serve as key contributor in the development of new/improved policies, procedures, or work practices. Coordinate the input of others.
Provide application support on a 24/7 basis.
Participate in mentoring and training staff to ensure successful on-boarding and professional development.
Successfully complete manager identified, required system training and certifications needed to support assigned applications within communicated timeframes.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
