This position works under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of Workforce Development and offers an extraordinary opportunity for an emerging leader to partner with our team to accomplish a bold mission of changing the face of tech talent within the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois. The Associate Director of Workforce Development will play a key role in successfully implementing our workforce development programs, which includes serving adult learners and underemployed populations to prepare them for in-demand jobs in the Chicago digital tech economy. This is accomplished through a variety of program offerings and models, with a broader goal to increase the readiness and expand the diversity of our tech workforce. It is the responsibility of this role to ensure the success of potential and current trainees within the Pritzker Tech Talent Labs Workforce Development programs, including the Tech Apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities include:
- Oversee the daily logistics of program operations for workforce development programming, which currently includes the tech apprenticeship program, but will expand to include other offerings.
- Advise and manage an expanding caseload of trainees throughout their experience during and after training, paying attention to trainee needs and challenges and maintaining contact with trainees from onboarding through successful completion.
- Closely monitor trainee performance and provide constructive, supportive, timely feedback that clarifies trainees' standing in the program. Facilitate weekly and monthly feedback reports and, when needed, create and enforce performance improvement plans.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for current trainees' questions and concerns, effectively communicating the curriculum and requirements for programs as well as policies and procedures.
- Manage the development of policies and procedures that affect the successful outcomes for participants in our programs.
- Identify content, facilitate instruction and feedback, and provide ongoing curriculum improvement for the professional skills curriculum; coordinate deliverables and schedules of instructors of the soft skills curriculum.
- Assist with tracking and measuring outcomes and reach of the Workforce Development programmatic efforts.
- Develop and implement programs, events, and experiences designed to increase trainee engagement and retention.
- Advise and connect potential and current participants with programs, services, guidance, and career pathways. Initiate referrals to programs or resources as needed.
- Supervise program assistants and approve all paid time of trainees and other temporary staff positions.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in student program development and management within workforce and career development services, preferably in the areas of computing and technology.
- Experience working with adult learners, particularly those from underserved and non-traditional backgrounds.
- Strong understanding of workforce best practices and learning models.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, emotional intelligence, and collaboration aptitude, with the ability to work effectively with students, instructors, industry partners.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze program outcomes and make data-informed decisions. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
