Position Summary:
General Technicians will perform general building maintenance tasks on a regular and continuing basis. They will provide general support for a variety of construction, trades, landscaping, exterior service and maintenance areas to repair and maintain university facilities and grounds. Performing job duties that will vary widely depending on the work and projects assigned.
  • Utilizing basic tools and equipment
  • Repair and maintain basic machinery, equipment and facility property under close supervision to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
  • Assisting with routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
  • Assisting with inventory and distribution of deliveries to appropriate entities under close supervision
  • Setting up and tearing down equipment for institutional meetings and events
  • Manually move and transfer items such as freight, stock, equipment, or other materials
  • Cleaning and organizing a wide variety of spaces, some confined and using a variety of hand and small power equipment
  • Cross-covering for other team members and participating in special projects as needed
  • Participate in snow removal
  • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Expressed interest in learning and acquiring skills related to building maintenance
    • Working in a team to accomplish goals
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience:
      • Working in construction or building maintenance
      • Using power tools and equipment
    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
    • Ability to:
      • Lift, carry or otherwise move items weighing approximately 50 pounds, climb ladders, bend, stoop, and work in awkward positions for several hours at a time.
      • Stand and walk continuously throughout the work shift.
    Required Licensures, Certifications or other
    • Must possess a valid drivers license and the ability to meet university requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
    • The duties of this position require the successful candidate to be at least 18 years of age.
