Temporary/Permanent: Temporary - Not to Exceed: December 17, 2021 but appointment may be renewed based on performance, departmental needs, and/or funding availability.
Other Conditions: On federal funds, to begin approximately September 2021 subject to position clearance and availability of funds. Renewal dependent on performance, departmental needs and/or funding availability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Coordinates and assists with the department's global health related research-training portfolio.
* Provides support and assistance to Principal Investigator and project leadership.
* Implements logistics to carry out students' research courses and training.
* Assist with research and travel related coordination and administration, including student and faculty travel and housing; ensures documents are complete and accurate while maintaining participant files with proper security measures.
* Coordinates student recruitment and application process and interviews.
* Facilitates consistent communication between students and their mentors throughout the program.
* Assists with preparing project manuals, reports, presentations, and newsletters as they pertain to student research training and mentoring.
* Assists with completing the program's annual progress reports and ensures timely submission.
* Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Health, Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
* Classified University of Hawaii graduate student in good academic standing.
* One year experience in a Graduate Research Assistant or Graduate Teaching Assistant position or experience serving in a research and academic setting.
* Outstanding communication and writing skills in English.
* Essential software skills: Advanced MS Excel, Advanced MS PowerPoint, MS Word, database and a variety of communications technology (e.g. email and teleconferencing); Google drive system.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Experience conducting research and/or project administration and management.
* Knowledge of research training programs including familiarity and interest in academic programs for student underrepresented in research training.
* Understanding of global health and health disparities.
* Knowledge of applying cultural literacy, cultural humility and cultural safety to research.
