Position Summary

The Director of Student Life will oversee the Student Life Office which includes Student Life, Greek Life, Student Organizations and New Student Orientation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing vision, leadership and management for the Student Life.
  • Supervise the University’s orientation program for first-year students and families.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate two professional staff members and 30 paraprofessionals.
  • Exercise fiscal oversight for the Student Life area.
  • Assist in the development of retention initiatives for Student Affairs.
  • Provides vision for student programs, activities and leadership initiatives that connect to the University’s institutional values, mission, and strategic plan.
  • Serve on the University’s Care Team.
  • Management the implementation of Co-Curricular events and Engage software for Student Affairs.
  • Provides oversight and leads efforts to promote student leadership through the development and implementation of a student leadership curriculum.
  • Serve on the Student Affairs Senior Staff on-call Duty Rotation
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as necessary to fulfill the University’s mission

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s Degree in Higher Education or related field is required. Three to Five years of progressively increasing administrative responsibilities in a student development area required. Knowledge of student development theory, leadership development, and experience in programming models, retention efforts, best practices, student organizations and supervision of college-aged individuals.

  • Attention to Detail – Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret and master complex information
  • Communication Skills – Good command of the English language, and ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Interpersonal Skills – Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels; interacts with people in a friendly, open, honest manner; models a commitment to teamwork; demonstrates respect for the opinions of others; and maintains high level of confidentiality.
  • Service Excellence– Demonstrates a commitment to excellent customer service, providing internal and external customers with information or assistance in resolving problems.
  • Planning and Organizing – Sets priorities, anticipates obstacles when planning, manages time effective
  • Desire to work in a highly collaborative environment and demonstrated ability to work with others to accomplish tasks.
  • Technical Skills – Adept at utilizing technology to effectively communicate and complete work (e.g. MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, CRM, SIS); ability to learn new technology.

May need to lift 10lbs. or less.
