Job Summary:

The Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome is seeking applicants for a full-time Research Associate to participate in the scientific management of the Data Coordinating Center for the National Institutes of Health INCLUDE (INvestigation of Co-occurring conditions across the Lifespan to Understand Down syndromE) Project.

The Research Associate will participate in the scientific management of the INCLUDE Data Coordinating Center (DCC, www.includedcc.org) through its Administrative and Outreach Core, which is led by the Crnic Institute. The mission of the INCLUDE DCC is to accelerate the pace of discoveries benefiting people with Down syndrome by facilitating access to and analysis of multidimensional datasets generated by cohort studies of individuals with Down syndrome. These datasets are shared through the INCLUDE Data Hub, an online resource that enables rapid data identification and analysis. The position will report to the Executive Director of the Crnic Institute and help manage multiple scientific teams nationwide to facilitate the accomplishment of the DCC mission. This positionwill require experience in working with clinical data, biospecimen data, and/or multi-omics datasets. The successful candidate will have a PhD in the biomedical sciences, computational sciences, ora related field. The Research Associate will join a multidisciplinary team in a highly collaborative environmentto assist with the design and development of novel approaches for global data sharing and analysis. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, an independent and critical thinker, a team player and able to multitask in an interactive setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Administrative and Outreach Core of the INCLUDE DCC to develop effective strategies for engagement of data generators in the field of Down syndrome research.
  • Work with collaborators in the Data Management Core of the INCLUDE DCC to develop and improve approaches for data ingestion, curation, and harmonization.
  • Work with collaborators in the Data Portal Core of the INCLUDE DCC to expand and evolve the INCLUDE Data Hub.
  • Work with team members at the Crnic Institute to identify and develop best practices for the sharing and analysis of complex multidimensional datasets generated by cohort studies of people with Down syndrome.
  • Meet regularly with members of the INCLUDE DCC leadership team, including NIH officers, to coordinate activities and collaborations across the DCC.
  • Develop reports and presentations for the INCLUDE DCC leadership.
  • Complete annual progress reports, milestone documentation, and other reports for NIH continuing review.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Education:
  • Ph.D. in Biological Research; Bioinformatics; Data Sciences; Molecular Biologyor related field.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in biomedical research.
  • Experience with IRB-regulated human subjects research studies.
  • Interdisciplinary research project management.
  • Experience in Down syndrome research.
  • Experience in genomics data sciences.
  • Experience with data curation and harmonization.
  • Experience with use of online data portals and similar data sharing resources.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$57,000 to $110,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
