Job Summary:

Join the Colorado School of Public Health as a Research Specialist. This position is a key member of the school’s Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity & Diabetes (LEAD) Center and will support data collection for the Exploring Perinatal Outcomes in Children Phase 3 (EPOCH III) study. This position may be cross trained on multiple LEAD studies, including the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcome Study (DPPOS). These studies include a mix of clinical trials, observational longitudinal cohort studies, and pilot studies on topics associated with obesity, Alzheimer’s/dementia, diabetes prevention, and evaluations of the long-term effects of prenatal overnutrition due to exposure to gestational diabetes and/or excessive weight gain in pregnancy.

The individual in this position will be trained and certified in data collection procedures for the research protocol to collect clinic visits with study participants. Visit procedures will include obtaining informed consent, blood and other biosample collection, anthropometric measurements, administration of questionnaires, and data entry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule study participants for data collection visits.
  • Collect data according to the research protocol at clinic visits.
  • Collect biospecimen via venipuncture and follow biospecimen processing protocols.
  • Document study procedures in a progress note.
  • Enter data into a database and reconcile data discrepancies.
  • Communicate test results to study participants.
  • Complete training and certification in study procedures.
  • Record serious adverse events.

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) position and reports to the Project Manager.

On-site: This role is expected to work on site on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus located in Aurora, CO.

The LEAD Center represents a collaboration between the Colorado School of Public Health and the Department of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine. Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, health sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a research or clinical setting working with human subjects/patients.
  • Experience following a research or clinical protocol.
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
  • Experience using REDCap databases.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting target salary for this position has been established as $25,000 - $27,500 (0.5FTE).

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
